International seminar on urban transport accompanies Sara Momen’s PhD defence

On 14 October 2026, TU Delft will host the seminar “Advances in Urban Transport: From Individual Choice to Collaborative Operations”, organized by SUM Lab and the TRAIL Research School.

The seminar brings together Professors Michel Bierlaire and Ilke Bakir to discuss research on urban transport, connecting individual decision-making with the planning and operation of transportation systems. It is scheduled from 10:00 to 12:00 at the TPM Faculty, TU Delft.

The event precedes the scheduled PhD defence of Sara Momen, an ORBIT researcher whose doctoral work was supervised by Bart van Arem and Shadi Sharif Azadeh, with ORBIT co-director Yousef Maknoon as copromotor. The defence is scheduled for 15:00 in the Senaatszaal at the Aula Congress Centre, TU Delft.

Sara’s dissertation, “Electrified Multimodal Urban Transport Planning and Operations under Uncertainty”, develops optimization approaches that account for uncertainty and traveller behaviour in electric public transport, shared micromobility, and multimodal journey planning.
